What Food is the Best?

Good Afternoon Friends! It has been a little while since I have been able to get on and write the next portion of this blog. Thanks for your patience as life can be crazy sometimes. Today I am going to be sharing information about the dog food that we recommend and why, our favorite dog treats, and also what to look for on the ingredient list before buying! This subject may seem boring to some but it is important to make sure we know what we are giving our puppies every single day. The health and well being of a puppy starts with nutrition . I will be linking all the products I talk about to the bottom of this post!

I do want to point out that if your dog has health issues to talk with your vet before switching food or giving anything extra.

We believe it is of the upmost importance to feed our puppies high quality, nutrient dense food that nourishes their growing bodies the best it can. After much research we believe we are doing that with Life's Abundance.

Our puppies LOVE Life's abundance food and they usually eat it right up! When you bring a puppy home from us this is what they will be transitioned to by the time they home. If you would like to switch to this food for your puppy this is the method that I would use. This would be for a dog that is on one cup of food a day! Adjust the proportions accordingly.

Day 1: Mix 1/4 cup of the new food with 3/4 cup of current food.

Day 2: Same as day so we do this slowly and their stomachs to not get upset.

Day 3: Mix 1/2 cup of the new food with 1/2 cup of current food.

Day 4: Same as Day 3

Day 5: Same as Day 3 to again just ease into the new food for their stomachs

Day 6: 3/4 cup of new food with 1/4 cup of current food

Day 7: Same as Day 6

Day 8: Same as day 6

Day 9: Give full cup of new food. Your pup should be transitioned to the new food!

Of course if you feel like your dog needs an extra day to help their stomachs that go ahead and do that whenever you need to!

Next I want to talk about dog treats! Dog treats are such a good incentive for puppies during the training process and I encourage my families to use them. Biggest thing is that we do not want the puppy to be consuming to much sugar. A lot of puppy treats are loaded with sugar so just be aware of this before buying. I like the treats I buy to ADD to my dogs overall nutrition for the day. My favorite treats are dried liver treats! Sounds nasty but liver is one of the most nutrient dense foods on this planet earth.

Another tip is that dogs can eat peanut butter(no sugar), bananas, pure pumpkin, plain yogurt, cooked sweet potatoes, carrots, etc. The list can go on but these are my favorites in case I do not have treats around these foods are still loved by our dogs. You can smash these foods on to lick mats and stick them in the freezer to keep them entertained while they get a good healthy snack!

Hello friends! Continuing on with some frequently asked questions when thinking about getting a puppy. Do you feel prepared for a puppy? Before getting a puppy you will want to make sure you are set up with all the puppy gear before bringing one home.

It is just one less thing to worry about so you can truly enjoy your new pup once they are home.

In todays world the "sky is the limit" for all things puppy. This is a blessing and a curse. It is nice to have options but sometimes when there is so many products out there it can be overwhelming on what to get.

Should I Get a Male or Female Teddybear Puppy?

Find the perfect new furry family member

Thinking about getting a puppy? One of the first questions that will enter peoples mind as they start thinking about adding a fur baby to their family is should I get a male or a female. This is probably if not the top question that we get asked when we speak with people inquiring about a puppy. Of course everyone has their own experiences if they are a previous puppy owner or current owner of a specific gender. The short answer? It does not matter.

Now let me explain myself. The biggest piece of advice I give people is do not worry so much about gender than you do the temperament of the puppy. Each puppy is it's its own even if it is in the same litter. If you have kids you can probably relate to what I am saying.

Start asking yourself-what am I looking for in a puppy?(calm, medium paced, confident, spunky. etc.) What is the lifestyle you want your puppy to live in(busy, slow paced, adventurous, etc.). What size? what color? These are important questions to know before moving ahead and getting a puppy.

Before getting one of our puppies I require everyone to fill out an application. These questions are all on there. After looking through your application we schedule a phone interview so we can talk through them. I want to make sure that everyone is on the same page and allow you to understand the puppies or breed characteristics before moving forward. Working with us can really help you work through all these questions since we know each of our puppies and are accessing and nurturing their temperaments.

Another thing I would like to add is that small breed puppies are not the same as large breed dogs. One huge concern is that the males mark their territory. Did you know that the males actually squat just like the females do? If you get the males neutered this will not be an issue at all. I have actually had trainers tell me they prefer a neutered male because they are more even all the time.

Breed characteristics are something to think about as well-I will get into that at a later time so stay tuned. Bye for now!
